 Back pain therapies. Our philosophy.
We all experience pain differently - no two people have exactly the same pain. But that doesn't mean you have to live with it.
An ideal therapy for acute back pain, for example, would be quick, effective and fine-tuned to your special needs. Despite advances in the treatment of back and spinal pain, many are still forced to live with recurrent, chronic pain.
Chronic pain usually means endless doctor's appointments and visits to the hospital. Unfortunately, this often only results in resignation and disillusionment, sometimes even depression. You're forced to plan around the pain, and it gets harder and harder to take part in your usual activities with family and friends. In the end, the pain controls your life.
Our interdisciplinary approach to back pain takes your unique situation into account, beginning where other therapies have failed. Because we want you to regain control of your live. That's our job and our common goal.
The First Step: The Proper Diagnosis
The proper diagnosis, being able to pinpoint exactly what's causing the pain - this is one of the toughest challenges in medicine. That's because the real causes of your unique pain profile must be carefully filtered out from the hundreds of other possible causes. Is it, for example, a nerve, a slipped disc, an infection or a degenerative process?
To meet this challenge, our team of specialists has combined their insights into a single, comprehensive diagnostic strategy. Our main priority at the start of this process: to understand you, your situation and your needs. That's why we have you fill out an extensive questionnaire about your unique pain biography. We then evaluate, actualize and clarify previous diagnoses and treatment outcomes. You benefit from the close cooperation between our experienced pain specialists as well as neurologists, anesthesiologists and radiologists.
Rounding out this process is a detailed examination and consultation. Now the proper diagnosis can be made.
Choosing the Right Therapy
Choosing the right therapy means working together with you toward your health goals. Acute and chronic pain can often be treated on an out patient basis. Depending on symptoms and diagnosis, the options include chiropractic therapy, acupuncture and neural therapy, alone or in combination with pain medication. In addition, physical therapy designed to meet your special needs can be used to support other treatment modalities.
Is surgery necessary? Which procedure is right for me? As a rule, we recommend surgery after all other treatment options, including minimally invasive procedures, have failed to bring about the desired outcome.
This is why it's important to give more conservative therapies a chance before deciding for or against surgery.
New Hope: You Don't Have to Live with Pain
Preventing pain from becoming chronic is crucial. Adequate, efficient treatment must be started at the first signs of pain. Out patient procedures, allowing you to leave the clinic on the same day, are often all it takes. Sometimes in patient procedures are necessary, requiring you to spend few days in the clinic.
Our interdisciplinary, individual-based approach to back pain emphasizes the newest, most gentle therapies and procedures, such as the Racz catheter, microlasers and electrothermic catheter techniques. These "gentle technologies" often make surgery unnecessary. They can also help relieve new and recurrent pain in people already operated on for back pain.
